Robert Darrell Hunt, Sr., age 69, of Huntsville, AL passed away peacefully on June 19, 2026 surrounded by loved ones.

Robert was born on May 27, 1957 in Pittsburgh, PA to Dolores Reyes & Ellwood Phillip Hunt Jr. Robert was a devoted family man whose greatest joy in life was the people he loved. He was known for his strength, kindness, unwavering dedication to his family, and his ability to make those around him feel cared for and valued. He was also an avid Alabama football fan. Through life’s challenges, he demonstrated remarkable resilience, courage, and faith.

He is survived by his loving wife, Diann Hunt; his children, Jessica Diann Hutton (Brett), Robert Darrell Hunt Jr. (Christy), and Joyce Lucille Lawrence (Nick); grandchildren, Tyler Kinchen (Cheyenne), Trey Louden (Samantha), and Trenton Lawrence (Kyndal); great grandchildren, Theodore, Amara and Callum; siblings, Claudia Barksdale of Huntsville, AL, Valerie Kalla (Steve) of Zelinople, PA, and Ellwood P. Hunt III (Renee) of Orlando, FL and many extended family members and friends who will forever cherish his memory.

He was preceded in death by his fathers, Ellwood Phillip Hunt Jr. and Billy Ward.

Robert’s legacy is one of love, perseverance, and devotion to family. His presence brought comfort and strength to those around him, and the lessons he shared will continue to live on through the lives of those who knew and loved him.

While our hearts are broken by his passing, we find peace in knowing that his suffering has ended and that he is now at rest. The memories he created, the love he gave, and the impact he made on his family will never be forgotten.

A celebration of life will be held on June 24, 2026 from 4pm-6pm at Laughlin Funeral Home in Huntsville, AL. In remembrance of our father’s love for Alabama football, we’re asking for any fans to wear their Alabama football gear.

Though Robert is no longer with us, his love, laughter, and legacy will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
