Ricky graduated from Phillips High School in 1976. Throughout his life, he carried with him the values of hard work, dedication, and loyalty that he learned in his early years. He began working alongside his father at Shoals Supply in Bear Creek, Alabama, where he spent many years in the frame shop building not only frames but lasting memories. He worked faithfully alongside his father and his brother, Roger Thomas, reflecting both his strong work ethic and the close bond they shared.
Over the years, Ricky worked in farming and also drove an 18-wheeler and dump truck, always willing to do whatever was needed to provide for his family. He later faithfully served his community as a school bus driver for Colbert County Schools, from which he retired.
He was a devoted husband, married to the love of his life, Mary Camp Thomas, for 32 wonderful years. Together they built a beautiful family, raising seven children and cherishing ten grandchildren who brought him immense pride and joy.
Ricky had a deep love for the outdoors and the simple pleasures of life. He enjoyed bird hunting, fishing, camping, and playing golf. He was also a devoted fan of Alabama Crimson Tide football and rarely missed an opportunity to cheer them on. Above all else, Ricky treasured time spent with his family.
He was known for his strong work ethic, unwavering faith, and willingness to do whatever was necessary to provide for those he loved. Through every challenge he faced, he showed strength, perseverance, and courage that inspired those around him.
His legacy lives on in his wife, children, grandchildren, and all who were blessed to know him.
“Well done, good and faithful servant.”
