Michael Allen Howard Michael Allen Howard passed away on July 30, 2021. Michael was born August 20, 1959, in Birmingham, Alabama, to Linda (Hamilton) and Ronald Howard. They moved to Mooresville, North Carolina, where Michael attended Mooresville High School and first gained the nickname ‘Weiner’ or ‘Weiner King’ in reference to his family’s chain of restaurants. He played football and made many lifetime friends.

Michael then attended Christ School in Arden, North Carolina, where he played football for the ‘Greenies’ where many more lifelong friends were made. He also played rugby while attending Presbyterian College in Knoxville, Tennessee. Legendary stories abound in all locations; some stories are actually true.

Michael worked in cookware sales and other family businesses. He moved with wife, Tammy (Young), to Smith Lake in Cullman County, Alabama, in 2008 where they created Good Hope Paintball on Highway 69 in Good Hope. He loved working with kids from school and youth groups, and loved living on the lake.

Michael never met a stranger (good or bad). Most importantly, he met and knew Jesus Christ, so we know he is now at peace. He will be missed by many.

Michael was predeceased by his father, Ronald Howard, and all of his grandparents, including his dearly loved maternal grandmother, Margaret (Harp) Hamilton, of Birmingham.

Michael is survived by his mother, Linda (Hamilton) Howard; his son, Hunter Allen Howard and Alyssa Green; grandchildren, Kennidee Rose Edge, Ballard Green, Leightyn Adams, and William Allen Howard; aunts, uncles and cousins; and former wife, Tammy Young Howard.

No services were held. The family suggests charitable donations in Michael’s memory to Christ School, 500 Christ School Road, Arden, North Carolina 28704, OR the Children’s ministry at Good Hope Baptist Church, 90 Good Hope School Road, Cullman, Alabama 35057.

Mike was a larger-than-life character when I knew him at Christ School, and I can only imagine that his persona grew as he matured. A hard-hitting football player, I’m glad he was on our side. This world’s loss is heaven’s gain. God’s peace be with you, Weiner King, and your family. Heyward ’78
