Limestone County Leads Alabama’s Record-Breaking Economic Development Year with $6.6 Billion in Investment

LIMESTONE COUNTY – Limestone County Economic Development Association (LCEDA) President and CEO Bethany Shockney today [January 20, 2026] celebrated Limestone County’s exceptional performance in Alabama’s historic 2025 economic development year, following Governor Kay Ivey’s announcement of a record-breaking $14.6 billion in capital investment statewide.

The Alabama Department of Commerce’s 2025 New & Expanding Industry Announcements Report highlighted 234 projects across the state, with Limestone County securing 16 new and expanding industry projects representing approximately $6.6 billion in capital investment and 858 new jobs.

Eli Lilly and Company’s unprecedented $6 billion advanced manufacturing facility in Huntsville and Limestone County headlines the county’s achievements as the largest initial investment in Alabama history. The synthetic medicine active pharmaceutical ingredient facility will create 450 high-skilled jobs for engineers, scientists, lab technicians, and other specialized personnel.

“Limestone County’s performance in 2025 demonstrates that our community has arrived as a major player in advanced manufacturing, aerospace, and bioscience industries,” said Shockney. “From Eli Lilly’s transformational pharmaceutical investment to Cast Products’ $74 million expansion, from Carpenter Technology’s $354 million specialty metals project to innovative newcomers like Titomic USA’s titanium additive manufacturing – we’re seeing diverse, high-quality growth across our entire county. These investments represent more than numbers on a page; they represent exceptional career opportunities for our residents and validation of the strategic work our community has done to compete on the global stage while preserving the quality of life that makes Limestone County special.”

New Industry Projects in Limestone County:

  • Eli Lilly – $6 billion pharmaceutical manufacturing facility in Huntsville, 450 jobs
  • Aleut (ARE) & Strata-G – $33 million aircraft parts manufacturing facility in Tanner (Pryor Field Regional Airport), 50 jobs
  • Titomic USA Inc. – $30 million titanium additive coatings facility in Huntsville, 60 jobs
  • Loftis Steel & Aluminum Inc. – $975,000 precision metal processing facility in Decatur, 20 jobs

Expanding Industry Projects in Limestone County:

  • Carpenter Technology – $354.25 million specialty metals expansion in Tanner, 62 jobs
  • Cast Products Inc. – $74.2 million aluminum foundry expansion in Athens, 25 jobs
  • GE Aerospace – $22 million carbon composites expansion in Huntsville, 84 jobs
  • Northrop Grumman – $20 million missile defense and space technology expansion in Huntsville
  • Daikyo Nishikawa USA Inc. – $18 million automotive parts expansion in Huntsville, 53 jobs
  • Asahi Kasei Plastics North America Inc. – $6.7 million polymers and resins expansion in Athens
  • Madison Metal Processing – $1.6 million expansion in Huntsville serving automotive manufacturing, 2 jobs
  • North Alabama LaserFab Inc. – $1 million metalworking expansion in Lester, 8 jobs
  • Claborn Manufacturing – $967,400 metal security furniture expansion in Tanner, 2 jobs
  • Exalta (formerly Intech/Turner Medical) – $900,000 medical devices expansion in Athens, 39 jobs
  • Morgan Metals Inc. – $75,000 custom metal fabrication expansion in Athens, 3 jobs
  • Toyota Tsusho – Solar power generation expansion in Huntsville

The statewide report showed Alabama’s 2025 performance included $3.6 billion in foreign direct investment and creation of 9,388 new jobs across diverse sectors including biosciences, technology, metals, and advanced materials, automotive and aerospace, and forestry products.

Governor Ivey emphasized that since taking office in 2017, Alabama has attracted $69 billion in total investment and created more than 100,000 jobs through strategic business recruitment and workforce development initiatives.
