THE SHOALS-The Shoals Symphony Orchestra is pleased to announce there is still time to enjoy a date with the symphony.  They have four remaining events for your musical enjoyment left in this season.

March 8 – Variations on America

In celebration of America’s 250th anniversary, Variations on America explores the music of American composers through the landscapes, stories, and sounds that shape the nation. From sweeping natural vistas to deeply personal reflections of home, this program reflects the breadth and depth of the American experience.

Program to Include:

Ives – Variations on “America”

Grofé – Grand Canyon Suite

Creston – Concerto for Saxophone and Orchestra

(performed by UNA Solo Artist Contest winner Sinclair Elledge)

Smith – There Is A Home (in honor of David L. Black)

Copland – Appalachian Spring

March 15 – Maestro in Miniature: Copland

A micro concert at a micro brewery.

This relaxed, one-hour program explores the life and music of Aaron Copland. Dr. Gretchen Windt performs selections from Twelve Poems of Emily Dickinson, along with solo and ensemble works that highlight Copland’s distinctly American voice.

April 18 – Wanda with the Shoals Symphony Strings

As part of our Record Room Sessions series, the Shoals Symphony partners with a local artist for an intimate concert of original music. Wanda’s thoughtful, introspective songwriting pairs naturally with string accompaniment.

A cash bar will be available, and seating is limited to 100 guests.

May 2 – Jurassic Park: In Concert

Steven Spielberg’s action-packed adventure comes to life with a full symphony orchestra performing John Williams’ iconic score live to picture. The film will be projected in HD as the orchestra brings this landmark score to life in real time.
