C. Malone II. of Athens, passed away on November 23, 2022, at his residence.
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Laborn C Malone II. (Pete) on November 23, 2022. Mr. Malone passed at his home in Minor Hill, Tennessee after many long battles with cancer and other health issues. He was born November 19, 1946 and was raised in Limestone County.
Laborn served in the Army during the Vietnam war, he was combat wounded and was awarded the Purple Heart and three Bronze stars for his service. He continued his career in the army until 1984. He worked at Redstone Arsenal during the late 1980s after his military career. He helped to erect the Alabama Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial at the Rocket Welcome Center on I-65. He later moved to East Tennessee where he Served as the Post Commander of the East Tennessee American Legion Post 183. Working with the American Legion, he supervised and participated in many military funerals. He was honored to serve his brothers, the East Tennessee Veterans. He worked with his local volunteer fire department, helping whenever possible. Eight years ago, to be closer to family and friends, Laborn moved to Minor Hill, Tennessee where he resided until his passing.
He enjoyed fishing and spending time in his garden. He spent many nights playing his guitar and singing with family and friends. He enjoyed classic westerns and his reading. He enjoyed telling stories to all that would listen. He loved the Lord God and studied his bible with conviction. He was focused on the cross with family and friends, celebrating his birthday, just a few days before his passing.
Mr. Malone is preceded in death by his father, Laborn C Malone Sr., mother, Obell Siniard Malone, Brothers, Lester Malone, Morris Malone and sisters Gladys Hardiman and Orena Malone. He is also preceded by his son Tommy Pepper.
He is survived by his sister Pauline Martin, his children, Richard Malone, Greg Malone, Laborn Malone III, Amy Malone, Melody Coffey, Helen Malone, and Regina Bray, many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at the Sandlin Cemetery Friday, December 9, 2022, at 1:00 p.m.
