Janet L. Croffoot, age 85, of Southside, Alabama passed away on Wednesday, October 20, 2021. Memorial Service arrangements will be announced at a later date.

Janet married her high school sweetheart, Keith in 1955. She was a homemaker for many years until after their youngest child started school. She worked at Eaton Corporation in Hanover, IL. until she, Keith and their 2 younger children moved to Alabama so that Keith could finish his career and retire. Janet worked at and retired from AOD Federal Credit Union. When Keith retired in 1992, Janet and Keith traveled throughout the United States in a travel trailer for 11 years and made many friends along the way. They sold the trailer in 2004 and lived in Mission, Texas for 6 years. In 2010, they moved back home to Oxford, Alabama. She helped Keith teach many Driver Safety Courses for AARP and they worked diligently to bring the Yellow Dot Program to the local area. In 2018, Janet and her daughter Jamie built a new home in Southside to be close to her daughter Julie. Family was important to her and she was happiest when everyone was together for special celebrations. Janet was preceded in death by her husband of over 60 years, Keith E. Croffoot, her parents Laverne and Wilma Calvert, two sisters, Dorothy Calvert and Jane Flack.

She is survived by her two daughters, Jamie Girot and Julie Bass, of Southside, Alabama; son, Timothy (LouAnn) Croffoot, of Bossier City, LA; two grandchildren Nicholas (Tammy) Gillies, and Amber (Charles) Sharpe; 3 great grandchildren; 6 Step Great Grandchildren; and many step great-great grandchildren; sister, Connie (Jerry) Meyerhofer, and brother James (Judy) Calvert both of Winnebago, IL.; sister, Laurie (Larry) Griffiths, of Prophetstown, IL; sister-in-law, Linda Reitz of Locust Grove, VA; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Eulaton United Methodist Church, Anniston, Alabama or to the American Cancer Society in memory Keith E. Croffoot.

The family wishes to extend thanks to her Cottage Lane friends for watching over her, and a special thank you to the Southside School bus driver, children, and neighbors that assisted her at the time of her fall. You all hold a special place in our hearts.
