Emma Jean Turner Taylor was the eldest of six children. She was born June 27, 1951, to Bobetta Peterson Turner and Charles Turner. She professed hope in Christ at an early age and was baptized at Cedar Hill Baptist Church in Humboldt, TN where she found joy singing in the choir.
She attended schools in Crockett County and graduated from Central High School in 1970 and received a degree in cosmetology. After graduating, she worked for Kellwood Company for many years until she married Thomas Taylor and moved to Elgin, IL. To that union, two sons were born (Joe and Anthony Taylor). She also acquired two bonus daughters (Pam and Daisy Taylor).
Emma moved back to Humboldt, TN and later to Waverly, TN. There she united with Mt. Olive Baptist Church and was a faithful member of the choir until relocating to Jackson, TN. She worked at the Bull Market several years before going to Wal-Mart where she worked in the deli for many years before becoming disabled. She united with New St. Luke MB Church and was a dedicated member of the Hospitality Ministry until her health began to fail.
Preceding her in death, her paternal grandparents and maternal grandparents, Martin and Emma Peterson, parents, Bobetta Peterson Turner, and Charles Turner, one sister Virginia Turner and one brother in-law Booker Simmons.
Emma Jean Turner Taylor leaves to cherish her memories: two sons, Joe and Anthony Taylor; two bonus daughters, Pam and Daisy Taylor; five grandchildren; seven bonus grandchildren; ten bonus great-grandchildren; three sisters, Edna Simmons, Barbara Taylor (Larry), Patricia Vaughn (Jonathan); one brother, Charlie Taylor and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
