Dale Everett Holter, a long-time resident of Guntersville, Alabama died on November 19th, 2021, at the age of 89. Dale is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Carolyn Alice Brown; his three children, Donna Weibel (Mike), Janet Bradford (Bob), and Amy Holter; and his six grandchildren, Michael Gerov (Lizzy), Jessica Gerov, Helena Weibel, Evan Bradford, Julia Bradford and Rebecca Bradford. He is also survived by his brother, Bob Holter (Gail) age 95. Dale was born on November 13, 1932, in Biwabik, MN to his parents Conrad Holter and Lenore Braaten. He went to Embarrass High School and later graduated from the University of Minnesota in Duluth with a degree in Physics. He spent adventurous summers during this time working in Alaska for the U.S. Geological Survey as part of a survey team that slept in tents and moved about in small planes. After graduating from college, he briefly taught in high school in Esko, MN before being drafted into the army in 1956. He was stationed in Huntsville, AL on Redstone Arsenal in 1958 where he met his future wife, Carolyn. After he completed his military service Dale enjoyed a long career at the Army Missile Command, MICOM on Redstone Arsenal, eventually becoming Branch Chief of Infrared Technologies. After retiring from the government Dale continued working several years for Nichols Research Corporation. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing, woodworking, puzzle solving and spending time on Lake Guntersville. He also learned to play the banjo and accordion. Dale was extremely proud of his Norwegian heritage and loved to travel back to Minnesota to be with his family. No funeral or memorial services is immediately planned. The family will notify loved ones in the future when the service is scheduled. The family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider making a donation to their favorite charity in Dale’s name.
