Gerry Floyd Corbin, age 76, of Horton, Alabama, passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at Highlands Medical Center in Scottsboro.
Gerry was born on January 18, 1950, to the late Ralph Willard Corbin and Nola Elizabeth Collins Corbin. He was a 1968 graduate of Douglas High School. Gerry spent more than 40 years as a truck driver with C.A. Langford/Charmack, traveling more than one million miles throughout his career. When he wasn’t on the road, he enjoyed working with his hands. He loved tinkering with motors, rebuilding engines, and could fix or repair just about anything related to an engine. He also enjoyed building and woodworking. An avid outdoorsman, Gerry enjoyed deer hunting for many years. He was an Alabama football and softball fan and especially enjoyed camping with his family and friends. Above all, he treasured time spent with those he loved. He was affectionately known as “Poppy” to his grandchildren. Gerry was a longtime member of High Point Missionary Baptist Church, where he had been a member for more than 60 years.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Cary Faye Corbin; daughter, Mitsy Corbin Stewart (Jimmy); sons, Gerry Brandon Corbin (Katie) and Casey Jackson Corbin (Heather); grandchildren, Lydia Stewart, Carrigan Stewart, Adaline Corbin, Norah Corbin, and Scout Corbin; brother, Jerry Corbin (Jenny); sister, Patricia Lewis (Steve); sisters-in-law, Barbara Corbin and Faye Corbin; brother-in-law, Delbert Michaels; along with a host of extended family members and friends.
In addition to his parents, Gerry was preceded in death by his brothers, Raymond Corbin, Lewis Corbin (Joyce), and Ralph Corbin Jr.; and sisters, Marjorie McCoy (J.T.), Jean Michaels, and Betty Holderfield (Gerald).
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 6, 2026, at High Point Baptist Church. Visitation will be held at the church from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., with the funeral service beginning at 3:00 p.m. Bro. Larry Camp will officiate. Burial will follow in High Point Baptist Church Cemetery.
