It is with sadness to announce that Leah Ann Branum passed away with dignity at Huntsville Hospital Hospice Care on Sunday November 21st at the age of 82. She had suffered through many health issues for years but now will be forever reunited with many of her friends and family with God in his Kingdom.
She is survived by her son, Scott Branum (Dana); grandchildren, Daniel, Stephanie, and John Earl Branum IV; brothers and sisters-in-law, Fred and Mona Gay Keith, John and Grace Ann Butler; untold close friends and family.
She is preceded in death by her husband, John Earl Branum Jr; son, John Earl Branum III ‘Johnny’; daughter-in-law, Lynda Branum; parents, Scotty and Stella Carter; mother and father-in-law, Helen and John Earl Branum Sr; brother, Richard Carter, all of Huntsville.
Mrs. Branum was born and raised in Huntsville where she met her husband, John. She was a cheerleader at Huntsville High and John was an athlete at Butler High. Leah’s life can be summarized by saying she woke up every day and thought how could she help someone she knew or even didn’t know in some form or fashion. She was totally devoted to her husband John, her children, grandchildren, close friends and members of her bridge club. She was old school and treated people with respect and dignity. Her favorite things in life were her hummingbirds and anything to do with the movie Gone With the Wind. The last 40 years of her life were mainly spent living and wanting to be in Marshall County anywhere near Guntersville.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2021, at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with The Rev. Aaron D. Raulerson officiating. Burial with be at Maple Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Huntsville Hospital Hospice Family Care Center on Serenity Lane in Huntsville or The Episcopal Church of The Epiphany on Sunset Drive in Guntersville.
