With deep sadness, the family of Mrs. Thelma Lynn Edwards announces the passing of their beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Thelma, 79, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday afternoon, September 1, 2026. A resident of the Union Hill community in Morgan County, she was born on October 24, 1946, in Marshall County, Alabama, to Grover Cleveland Martin and Bevi Imogene Bucklew Martin. She was one of four children. She and her husband, William Claude Edwards, were married for more than 56 years.
Thelma worked in telecommunications on the assembly line. She enjoyed browsing thrift stores, visiting the beach, farming, caring for her animals, and creating jewelry.
Thelma is survived by her husband, William C. “Sonny” Edwards; daughters, Pamela Traylor, Rita Warren (David), and Lisa Mango; brother, Grover Edward Martin; sister, Julie Whitehorn (Leon); twelve grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Grover and Bevi Imogene, Thelma was preceded in death by her sons, Keith Edwards and Christopher Malone; two grandsons; and sisters, Nellie Ruth Phillips and Priscilla Jean Mardant.
Services for Thelma are planned for Saturday, September 5, 2026, at Brindlee Mountain Chapel in Morgan City. Family, friends, and guests will gather for visitation at 10:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Brother Randy L. Blakely will officiate. Burial will be in Lipscomb Cemetery, with Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel assisting the family with arrangements.
