Curtis Lavern Guthrie, 77, of Elkmont, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 31st, 2025, at his residence. Born on April 27th, 1948, in Limestone County, Curtis was the son of William and Eunice Vining Guthrie.
Mr. Guthrie is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Shirley Guthrie. He leaves behind a legacy through his children: Heath Guthrie, Beth Martin (Clint), and Spencer Guthrie (Anna). His cherished grandchildren, Hannah Walker (Ellis), Landon Martin (Michelle), Emma Guthrie, Jake Guthrie, Agatha Guthrie, and Aurora Guthrie, will hold his memory close. Curtis is also survived by his siblings: Susan Holt, Barbara Hemphill (Tommy), Shelia McKnight (Pete), Daryl Guthrie, and Phyllis Spencer (William). His sister-in-law, Wanda Guthrie, along with numerous nieces and nephews, will miss him dearly.
Mr. Guthrie is preceded in death by his parents and siblings: William “Billy” Guthrie, Jr., Carolyn McGlocklin, Lloyd “Wayne” Guthrie, Janice Gooch, Hollis Guthrie, and Sharon Usery.
Friends and family are invited to gather and pay their respects at the visitation for Mr. Guthrie on Sunday, August 3rd, 2025, from 1:00-2:45pm at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 3:00pm, officiated by Greg Wise. Mr. Guthrie will be laid to rest at Reunion Cemetery. Pallbearers Jake Guthrie, Ricky Gooch, Landon Martin, David Gooch, Ellis Walker, Joey Usery, Chad Spencer, and Chris Spencer will carry Curtis to his final resting place.
Mr. Guthrie was a well-known and respected member of the Elkmont community. His life was filled with joy as he spent time with his family, attending sporting events, and piddling on his farmland. His grandchildren, whom he adored spoiling rotten, brought him immense happiness. Curtis retired from a dedicated career as an electrician at TVA, where he worked for many years with passion and integrity.
Curtis Lavern Guthrie will be remembered for his kindness, dedication, and the love he shared with those fortunate to know him. His legacy will continue to inspire and guide the family and community he cherished.
