Mary Jo TravillianIt is always difficult saying goodbye to someone we love and cherish. Family and friends must say goodbye to their beloved Mary Jo Travillian of Athens, Alabama, born in Detroit, Michigan, (grew up in Ann Arbor, MI.) who passed away at the age of 88, on July 30, 2025. She was predeceased by her parents, Clyde A. Kinsey and Florence R. Kinsey, and her husband of 62 years, Robert M. Travillian. She is survived by her children, William Russell Travillian of West Palm, FL and Lisa Jo Travillian of Athens, AL; her brother Richard; and her sister-in-law Sally Kinsey of DeWitt, NY.

Mary Jo was a devout Christian who loved and trusted the Lord with all her heart. She and Robert lived in Grosse Pointe Farms, MI, and attended Grosse Pointe United Methodist Church for 25 years. They then moved to Florence, AL, and attended Florence First United Methodist for 18 years, then to Valdosta, GA, where they attended Crossroads Baptist for 18 years. Once Robert passed in 2024, Mary Jo moved to Athens, AL, to be near her daughter, where she became a member of Lindsay Lane Baptist Church.

Mary Jo’s highlights: Loves the Lord, Music (Worship), Friends & Family, and giving. She served as Pink Lady Volunteer – South Georgia Medical Center, Valdosta, GA (3,000 hours). Mary Jo and Robert also went on Mission Trips for over 20 years, serving the Lord. She always put everyone first over herself and genuinely cared for others.

A highlight of her life was visiting the Holy Land and riding a Camel.

A memorial service to honor Mary Jo will be Thursday, August 7th, 2025, at 10:30am, at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home. Friends and family are invited to gather prior to the service at 9:30am pay their respects at the visitation.
