James Michael “Mike” Adams, 60, of Athens, Alabama, passed away on September 3rd, 2026, surrounded by his family at Athens-Limestone Hospital. He was born March 10th, 1966, in Athens, Alabama, to Alton and Lue (Adams) Adams.
He is survived by his mother, Lue Adams; fiancée, Renea; sister, Pam; brother-in-law, Ricky; son, Michael; bonus son, Davis; grandchildren, Lena Elizabeth Adams, Eli James Adams, and James Alton Adams, II; nieces, Brandi Sebelski (Dustin) and Bailee Spence (JW); great-niece, Aubrey Spence; and great-nephews, JD Sebelski and Keeton Sebelski.
He is preceded in death by father, James Alton Adams; and grandparents, Aline and Gene Adams and Jessie and Jerome Adams.
Mike was a loving partner, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Mike was a 1985 graduate of Elkmont High School and attended Calhoun Community College. He was retired from Nucor Steel in Decatur, after working there almost twenty-eight years.
Mike loved spending time with his family and friends. His grandbabies were his world. Some of his favorite past-times were going fishing, grilling, and riding his motorcycle with his buddies. He could build or fix just about anything and was always doing projects around the house or in a certain classroom. Mike enjoyed a good steak, country music, yelling, “Roll Tide”, sharing jokes, and using “his colorful language”. He was always willing to help and do for anyone. All of his family and friends were blessed to have him in their lives. Mike will live on in our hearts and memories.
The funeral service for Mr. Adams will be Tuesday, September 8th, 2026, at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home, at 12:00 p.m. Visitation will be Tuesday, from 10:00 to 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Michael Adams, Tim Carter, Tony Clanton, Stanley Harbin, Davis Clem, and Allen Hill. Honorary Pallbearers will be Steve Harbin, Jim Ed Haney, Todd Stark, Devin Clanton, Randy Bailey, and Austin Holt. Burial at Leggtown Cemetery.
