David Reynolds Fite, of Knoxville, Tennessee passed away peacefully on August 28,2026 at
St.Thomas Ascension Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee. David was born in Winchester, Tennessee on September 2,1960 to Dr. Reynolds Fite and Louise(Bunkie) Fite.
David attended Sewanee Academy, Maryville College, and the University of Tennessee before
enlisting in the U.S.Army entering the medical field in radiology. After his service, David
continued his education in CatScan technology and began his career as a CatScan technician.
He worked at hospitals in Maryland,Virginia, and Tennessee. David studied advancements in
the field of CT technology and trained others in those developments.
David loved the outdoors and enjoyed hiking, backpacking, and rock climbing. Some of his
favorite places were the Smoky Mountains, Sewanee, and Annapolis Rock in Maryland.
David was an avid reader with an insatiable curiosity. His wide range of interest included
history, fine arts and music. He enjoyed sharing those interests with others. In his later years
David expressed his creativity through woodworking.
David’s final act of kindness was registering as an organ and tissue donor.
David is survived by his beloved Melanie Farris Bain, daughter Sara Fite, son David (Alex)
Fite, and grandson Caleb Fite who he shared with Lisa Sayles Fite. He is also survived by his
dear friend Lori Farris Fleishman.
HIs surviving family includes Parker Counts (Debbie), Carol Pope Counts (Jim), Emily Fite Parke
(Keith), and a host of beloved extended family.
David was preceded in death by his parents, infant son Jacob Fite and brother Jim Counts.
A celebration of life will be held September 26 from 12-2 pm at Moore Cortner Funeral Home in
Winchester, Tennessee.
