Beatrice Lowe, known by family and friends as “Bea,” passed away peacefully at her home on March 28, 2019. Bea was born October 25, 1939 to Cleo and Pearl Stewart, in South, Kentucky. On April 9, 1958, she married high school classmate, Richie Lowe, in a private ceremony at her parent’s home. Bea treasured their marriage of over 60 years.
Richie and Bea lived in numerous places while Richie did his degree work in agriculture and bio-chemistry, including Lexington, Kentucky, where their daughter Terri Gayle Lowe was born in 1959; Cary, North Carolina; Corvallis, Oregon, where their daughter Cheryl Ann Lowe was born in 1962; and back to the Lexington and Nicholasville, Kentucky area in 1963, where their son Mark Lowe was born in 1970. They lived in Jessamine County, Kentucky until 2007, when they moved to the Hartselle, Alabama area to be near their son Mark.
Bea worked most of her life as a housewife, homemaker, and loving mother for her family. As a homemaker, she loved making quilts, freezing strawberry jam, and many other aspects of gardening. Bea also loved birds, as exemplified by her home decor. Most important, Bea valued her Christian faith and trusted in the Lord for salvation and strength for each day. Throughout her life, Bea could often be found serving her church in the nursery. At the time of her passing, Bea’s membership was at West Hartselle Baptist Church, in Hartselle.
Bea was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Verzanna Stewart, Virginia Whobrey, and three brothers, Veachel Clay Stewart, Roy Stewart, and Cleo Stewart, Jr. Bea is survived by her husband Richie, and two sisters, Betty Jean (Thurston) Green and Caroline (Kenneth) Woodcock. Bea’s family descendent tree is comprised of her three children and their spouses [Gayle (Ryan) Brown, Cheryl (Kenny) Morris, and Mark (Amanda) Lowe], five grandchildren and their spouses, and eight great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank friends, church family, and other extended family members who have offered prayerful support and extended a loving and helpful hand throughout the years.
Heritage Funeral Home of Hartselle, Alabama will be in charge of cremation services. The family has chosen to have a memorial service in Kentucky at a later time. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the International Mission Board via West Hartselle Baptist Church.
