Alpheus “Al” Aaron, 80, of Jasper, went to be the Lord, Saturday, February 22, 2020 at his residence.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at 12:00 p.m. at Collins-Burke Funeral Home, funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the Collins-Burke Chapel. Rev. Ryan Rosser and Rev. Charlie Brown will officiate. There will be a military graveside service at 2:45 p.m. at Oakwood Memorial Gardens in Gardendale.
Mr. Aaron was preceded in death by his Parents-Rev. James Everette Aaron and Ruth Parker Aaron; Son-Alpheus Russell Aaron; Sister-Mildred Aaron Blalock.
He is survived by his Loving wife of nearly 60 years-Catherine Crawford Aaron; Daughter-Robin Aaron Harris and son-in-law-Gary Wayne Harris of Jasper; Grandchildren-Melody Smith, Amber Kimbrell, Mary Harris and Russ Harris; Step Great-Grandchildren-Gracen, Henderson and Piper; Brothers-James C. Aaron (Bea), Howard Parker Aaron (Billie) of Gardendale and Everette Lee Aaron (Betty) of Jasper; Sisters-Marie Aaron Kinney (Earl) of Mt. Olive and Mary Sue Aaron of Jasper; In-laws, extended family and a host of friends.
Al loved his Lord Jesus Christ, his church and church family very much. He was a faithful member of Gardendale-Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church for over 30 years and upon his return to Walker County, of Williams Chapel United Methodist Church of nearly 20 years. He was a retired Army veteran, serving his country in Germany 2 years active duty, and the Army Reserves for 27 years, retiring as a Mater Sargent. He was employed for 34 years with Alabama Power Co. mostly as a lead lineman until his retirement in 1994. He enjoyed football, especially his beloved “Crimson Tide”, Nascar racing, Sacred Harp and bluegrass music, and working crossword puzzles.
Pallbearers will be Billy Stewart, Billy Hugh Aaron, Rob Roberts, Troy Wilson, Ronnie Clark and Dewey Gosa.
