Linda Ann BassSurrounded by her loved ones, Linda Ann Bass passed away on October 10, 2025 at the age of 82 years at the Villages of St Peters in St Peters, Missouri. Even though we grieve the loss of our loved one, we rejoice that she is now in the presence of our precious Lord and Savior.

Linda Ann Bass was born to James Ernest Prosser and Ruth Cornelia Prosser on May 27, 1943 in the Sumac community in Giles County, Tennessee. Linda spent her early childhood years in Sumac and her later childhood years in Cornersville, Tennessee. Linda gave her life to Jesus at a young age, and she spent her life encouraging others to follow Him. Linda and her family were active members of New Zion Baptist Church. Linda attended Cornersville High School, and then after her marriage to Gary Prosser Bass, she attended and graduated from Prospect High School.

She and Gary welcomed their oldest son while in Tennessee, and then they welcomed a set of twins and their youngest child while living in Decatur, Alabama. In the late 1960s, Linda and Gary moved to Columbia, Tennessee, where they raised their children and became active members of Pleasant Heights Baptist Church.

Linda was known for her genuine, kind, and encouraging spirit. She prioritized her family, her church, and her community. She had a passion for helping people and a passion for advancing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. She loved writing and composing music. She enjoyed playing the piano and singing together with friends and family as they all gathered around her piano. She enjoyed studying and teaching the Word of God. At Pleasant Heights Baptist Church, she taught ladies Sunday School classes, led prayer groups, directed Vacation Bible Schools, sang in the choir, and for a time, she also served as a mission director for the Women’s Missionary Union.

Later in life, she and Gary moved back to Giles County where they were founding members of Grace Baptist Church. Linda served as the church pianist, secretary, and treasurer. Linda was a prayer warrior, and she always took the time to pray with people. One of her greatest strengths was encouraging and sharing Scripture with her friends and family through letter writing.

Linda was a loving and devoted wife to her husband, and she was a dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Ruth Prosser, her husband, Gary Bass, her two sisters, Ernestine Rudd and Betty Graves, and her brother, James Ulous Prosser.

Within 8 hours of Linda passing into eternity, Elora Kay, Linda’s 18th great-grandchild, was born into this world.
