Lucille was an amazing woman. She never punched a time clock but she worked countless hours for others which included making fried peach pies for the Mooresville Fire Department. Lucille and Bill ran the Mooresville Market for a few years. She also did the bookkeeping for the Bill Demastus Junkyard. She kept busy taking care of her family and being involved in several different clubs and organizations including the Ladies Home Demonstration Club. One of the highlights of her week was Sunday dinner when she would open her house to whoever wanted a plate and fix dinner for the whole family. Lucille enjoyed taking care of people, and one of her favorite ways was to feed them. In the quiet time between large family gatherings, Lucille enjoyed arts and crafts such as coloring and cross stitch. She was quite the seamstress and even painted shirts and sweatshirts for the fire department to sell.

Momma to one, Grenny to some, Aunt Lucy to several, and Lucille to most–whatever you called her, she leaves behind a legacy that is larger than she will ever know. We watched her fight cancer twice, survive the loss of two husbands and countless heart break from other losses, yet she continued to laugh and make jokes. Her eyes were more telling than her mouth and many times it only took one look from her to correct the rowdiest child. She was loved and adored by all who knew her and not a day will go by that she will not be missed. But we all know that it is not goodbye because one thing that Grenny had in her heart was God, and we know this is simply “See you later alligator.” We love you most (Ha! We got to say it last) Your bunch!
