Wilma Marie Baker Page, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at the age of 88 on November 19, 2024. Wilma was born on September 25, 1936, in Cartersville, Georgia, to James Isaac Baker and Edna Lucile Weaver Baker. She pursued her passion for nursing at the Orangeberg Regional Hospital School of Nursing in Orangeburg, South Carolina, and later continued her education at the University of Alabama in Huntsville.
It was during her time in South Carolina that Wilma met the love of her life, William David Page, Sr., while he was stationed at Ft. Jackson. The two were married on April 1, 1956, embarking on a partnership that would span nearly seven decades. They moved to Huntsville, Alabama, in 1958, where they built a loving home and raised their family.
Wilma dedicated much of her professional life to the U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command, where she worked until her retirement in 2004. Her commitment to public service extended beyond her career. Over the years she was an active member of the Huntsville Jayceettes and the Madison County Democratic Women Association, along with many other service organizations.
She is survived by her devoted husband, William David Page, Sr.; her siblings, Ronnie Baker, Frank Baker, and Donnie Baker; her cherished grandchildren, Jean Marie Geohagan (Kevin), William David Page III (Susan), and Zachary David Page (Sarah Lauren); and her great-grandchildren, Reid William Geohagan, Emma Margaret Geohagan, Rylan David Page, Nora Catherine Geohagan, Zachary David Page II, William Lewis Page, and Dalton Rhodes Page. Wilma was predeceased by her parents; her siblings, Isaac Wayland Baker, J. B. Baker, Winifred Mellard, and Christine Hutto; and her son, William David Page, Jr.
Wilma’s warmth, wisdom, and unwavering dedication to her family and community will be deeply missed. She leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and service that will be cherished by all who knew her.
Interment will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at 12:00 noon at Woodville Union Cemetery, with Pastor Andy Fogle officiating.
