Debbie Evans, a life-long resident of Gurley, AL, passed peacefully from this life on June 27, 2021 at her home.

Debbie is survived by her mother, Betty Hall; her husband, Bill Evans; brother, Tommy Hall; three daughters, Julia Gary (Andrew), Valerie Rathburn (Dylan), and Emily Hatfield (Robert); step-children, Noah Evans (Cara), Sara Ingram (Lee), and Brittany Evans; and ten grandchildren, Fisher Evans, Ava Gary, Jenna Gary, Sara Gary, Anna Hatfield, Owen Hatfield, Abbie Ingram, Coleman Ingram, Sam Ingram, and Via Shamash. She is preceded in death by her father, Thomas Hall.

Deborah Lynn Hall was born July 21, 1958 to Thomas Hall and Betty Shavers Hall. She graduated from Madison County High School in 1976. In her early young adult life, she was a dental hygienist until she started her favorite job: being a mom. When her daughters were all in school, Debbie took classes and graduated with an early education degree from Athens State University, and later received her master’s from Grand Canyon University. She taught Pre-K and 3rd grade until she retired in 2014. She married Bill Evans in 2001, whom she loved with her whole heart. Together, they loved each other’s children and grandchildren as their own.

Debbie loved her family deeply, and always did her best to shower them with her love, support, and Amazon packages. Her favorite thing was being Nana, and she was so proud of each of her grandchildren. She loved being a teacher, telling her daughters whatever was on her mind, anything purple, Elvis, McDonald’s sweet tea, and butterflies. She will be deeply missed by her family who loved her dearly.

A memorial service is planned for 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 30, at the Maysville Church of Christ (3017 Gurley Pike, Gurley, AL). The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 29, from 5:00-8:00 PM and also one hour before the service on Wednesday.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Debbie’s honor to the Sjogren’s Foundation (sjogrens.org).
