ATHENS-Over the last two days Athens Police Chief Floyd Johnson reports several cases ranging from purse snatching to escape:
“This afternoon around 1:50 the police department received a call from CVS Pharmacy advising an 
elderly female her purse snatched in there parking lot. When officers arrived the victim told officers she had left the pharmacy building when a black male grabbed her purse. Investigators were able to obtain a screen shot of the male suspect while he entered the store; I have attached two photos to the suspect. The photos are not the best quality however it’s the best we can do at this time. The victim was very upset and had scratch marks from the encounter. We’re asking anyone with information about this case to call the Athens Police Department at 256-233-8700.”
“Last night about 9:45 Eastside Pharmacy on US 72 East was broken into. A white male approximately 5’10 took a hammer and broke out a front glass of the Pharmacy. Once inside the pharmacy he went to the pharmacy and took several bottles of unknown medication. I’m attaching photos taken from the surveillance system. If anyone has any information on this case were asking them to call the Athens Police Department at 256-233-8700.”
“Yesterday morning Dhalquistiere Eichelberger Jr was sentenced by Judge Don Mansell to serve 5 days in jail for numerous traffic citations. Officer Greg Parnell started to escort Eichelberger from the courtroom for booking when Eichelberger got a chair and threw it at Parnell striking him in his legs. Eichelberger then ran from the building. Officer Parnell and Officer Brandon Colburn started a foot pursuit outside the police department. A short time later Eichelberger was caught by Colburn and taken into custody. Eichelberger was also charged with assault second degree on Officer Parnell and escape 3rd degree. Eichelberger was then booked and taken to the county jail. Officer Parnell was treated at Medical East and released. “
