DECATUR-On October 17, 2026, at approximately 11:45 p.m., officers with the Decatur Police Department were dispatched to gunshots call in the 100 block of Ridgewood Court SE. Officers were also advised about a reported vehicle fire nearby.

Upon arrival, officers found a vehicle on fire. An unresponsive male with apparent gunshot wounds was located in the roadway. Morgan County Coroner Jeff Chunn responded to the scene and pronounced the male deceased. The male was identified as Victor Nava.
Over the course of the investigation, detectives identified Casper Salcido as a suspect. On October 20, 2026, a warrant for murder was obtained for his arrest. On the same date, Salcido was arrested on the warrant and booked into the Morgan County Jail without bond.
