FLORENCE-The man who led police authorities on a high-speed chase through 4 counties and two states on Friday night, March 4 has been released from the hospital and is now in Lawrence County Detention Center on charges of Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer, Evading Arrest and Reckless Endangerment.
Police say the chase started at the Patton Island Bridge on the Muscle Shoals side and ended in Lawrence County, Tennessee after the suspect, Benjamin Owen Young, 28 of Florence crashed his stolen vehicle into a Loretto, Tennessee Police cruiser. The suspect overturned his vehicle and was arrested and carried to the hospital.
Young has also been charged with theft of property after it was discovered he was driving a stolen car from Florence.
Young will be extradited back to Lauderdale County where he will be faced with additional charges.
