FLORENCE-WE’RE ON THE MOVE!! We’ve outgrown our classroom at the Florence Lauderdale Animal Shelter and our Annual Bake Sales have been bursting at the seams with cookies, cakes, breads, etc.! Our new location is in Downtown Florence at the First United Methodist Church (FUMC). Look for the balloons and signage at the Church Office Entrance on the corner of Tuscaloosa & Seminary Streets – you can’t miss our Fall Bake Sale on Saturday, September 5 from 10am to Noon (note our new closing time).
The new location in Downtown Florence is more convenient and a much larger space for Bake Sale pick-ups and last-minute day-of-sale purchases. As always, our volunteer bakers are working on their Fall Specialties as well as the delicious staples so many of our customers enjoy! Freshly made cakes, cookies, breads, cupcakes, pies, and a variety of puddings are all available for you, your family, friends, and treats for your pets. Don’t forget our “Surprise Goodie Table” filled with sweet treats and baked delicacies!
Pre-ordering is preferred to ensure you get the items of your choice; payment options are included on the Menu Pages. As of August 24, the Menu will be on the following Facebook pages: *Chloe’s Fund for Medical Needs of Florence Shelter Animals OR *Florence Lauderdale Animal Services. Call or text your order to Bake Sale Co-Coordinator, Susan Simmons, at 978-335-6294. The deadline to pre-order the baked goods is 3pm on Tuesday, September 1; all orders can be picked up at the Bake Sale on Saturday, September 5 (10am–noon) at the First United Methodist Church in Downtown Florence. Those who forget to pre-order can drop by the Bake Sale where there are usually a few extra goodies at our “Surprise Goodies Table”. ALL money raised from the bake sale goes directly into Chloe’s Fund.
Chloe’s Fund was started in March of 2017 after shelter volunteers, Glen and Debby Nelson lost Chloe, their beloved 16 year old dog. After Chloe’s passing, the Nelsons and their friends set out on a mission to help as many sick and injured Florence-Lauderdale Animal Services’ animals as possible. Since its inception, Chloe’s Fund vetted and saved the lives of hundreds of animals suffering from various injuries and illnesses. Additionally, Chloe’s Fund provides financial resources for emergency medical care of Florence Lauderdale Shelter Animals in addition to supporting Shelter Diversion in our community.
