LAUDERDALE COUNTY-On October 23, 2026, at approximately 6:20 p.m., deputies responded to a reported stabbing in the 7000 block of Highway 157. Upon arrival, deputies located a female lying on the living room floor with apparent stab wounds. The female was determined to be deceased at the scene.

A male and another female were present inside the residence when deputies arrived. During the course of the investigation, the male was identified as a suspect and detained. Investigators processed the crime scene, collected evidence, and interviewed the suspect and the female witness.
The victim has been identified as Janice Campbell Murphy, 64, of Florence.
As a result of the investigation, Caleb Dakota Druckemiller, 23, of Florence, was arrested and charged with Murder. Druckemiller is the grandson of the victim and remains in the Lauderdale County Detention Center without bond, pending an Aniah’s Law hearing.
This remains an active and ongoing investigation. An autopsy has been ordered. No further details will be released at this time.
