Alton Bell, a devoted family man and dedicated worker, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2026, at Magnolia Health and Rehab in Corinth, Mississippi. Born on July 24, 1959, in Bolivar, Tennessee, Alton’s life was marked by steadfast commitment, warmheartedness, and a tireless work ethic that touched all who knew him.
For over four decades, Alton was a forklift operator at Dover Elevator, now Thyssen-Krupp, where his reliability and skill earned him the respect and admiration of colleagues. Yet, beyond his professional pursuits, it was his passion for life and family that defined him most deeply. In his younger years, Alton found joy riding horses and four-wheelers, embracing the freedom of the open outdoors. His love for hunting and fishing was not just a hobby but also a connection to nature that he cherished. Alongside these pursuits, he was a gifted woodworker, taking great pride in building and creating, often surrounded by the laughter of family and friends gathered close.
Alton was a good provider and protector of his loved ones, a role he held with pride and tenderness. His greatest joy was found in the moments spent with his granddaughter, Lexi Hays of Pocahontas, whose presence brightened his days immeasurably. He is survived by his daughter, Cristina Stewart of Pocahontas; brother, James Bell of Middleton; sister, Brenda Davis of Middleton; two nephews and a niece, all of whom carry forward his legacy of kindness and strength. He also leaves behind a cherished memory of family gatherings filled with warmth and generosity.
Alton was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Vicky Bell; his father, Raymond Bell; mother, Nellie Rixie Bell; and brother, Lloyd Bell. Their memories live on in the hearts of those who loved him and in the stories lovingly shared during times of remembrance.
A faithful member of Pocahontas First Baptist Church, Alton’s spiritual life was a cornerstone of his identity, reflecting the values of compassion and community he lived by each day. His presence in the church and his community will be profoundly missed but fondly remembered.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects and celebrate Alton’s life at a visitation on May 29, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Middleton, located at 201 S Main St, Middleton, Tennessee. It will be a time to gather, remember, and honor a man whose life was a testament to hard work, love, and simple joys.
Alton Bell’s journey may have ended, but his spirit endures in the cherished memories of those he touched—forever a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. His footsteps remain etched in the hearts of all who were lucky enough to know him. Memorial donations in his name may be sent to the charity of the donor’s choice.
