FLORENCE-Wilson and Brooks High School have teamed up to help raise money for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation. Last year an amazing child by the name of Cooper Hodges lost his own battle against a brain and spinal tumor. Cooper’s father and Wilson’s Coach, Corey Daugherty, served 6 years together in the Marine Corps and deployed together to Falujah Iraq in 2004. This connection along with Cooper’s bother, Paden, playing for the Brooks Jr. High Baseball team lead to Wilson hosting the first tournament last year, raising roughly $7,000 to help the Hodges’ with Cooper’s Medical expenses. This year Brooks has joined in and we are looking to crush last year’s numbers.
The tournament is being held on March 31st and April 1st with games at both venues beginning at 9 A.M. Both venues have set the admission for $4.00 for adults and $3.00 for students. Friday with pool play and the placed teams battling it out on Saturday (Wilson campus only). Super Cooper shirts will be for sale at the game and a donation jar will be located at the gate also if you would like to make a donation. All proceeds from the gates and concessions will be combined with the donation jars and donated in Cooper Hodges’ honor.
Please come out and support a good cause and allow Cooper’s amazing story to continue to affect so many more than it already has. “Heros come in all shapes and sizes. This young man has become mine. He has affected so many. He brought families together, he brought communities together, and he even made high school rivalries lay down the feud and come together. Anyone who can do that, IS A SUPERHERO and THAT IS WHY SUPER COOPER IS MY FAVORITE SUPERHERO” Brother Chad Hess of Woodmont Baptist Church.
