Ronnie James Tucker, 82 of Harvest, Alabama, passed away peacefully at his home on July 3, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on August 19, 1942, Ronnie dedicated his life to service, both in the military and the Department of Defense.
Ronnie proudly served in the US Army from 1960 to 1989, achieving the rank of First Sergeant. His military career in aviation and air traffic control took him to various parts of the world, including tours in the Dominican Republic, Vietnam, Korea, and Germany, where he earned numerous commendations for his bravery and leadership. His commitment to his country was unwavering.
Following his distinguished military service, Ronnie continued to serve his country as a civil service employee with the Department of Defense, where he worked from 1989-2011. Known for his dedication, leadership, and immense knowledge of air traffic control rules, regulations, and requirements, he left a lasting impact on those he served and worked alongside.
Over his 82 years of life, Ronnie enjoyed reading, water skiing, airplanes, and visiting historical sites. He was also an avid sports car enthusiast, particularly interested in corvettes. His children and grandchildren always had a special place in his heart.
Ronnie is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Dianna Tucker; his children, David Paul Lowman II (Amy) of Enterprise, AL, Jillian Nicole Parker (TJ) of Toney, AL; his grandchildren, Olivia Lowman of Wilmington, NC, Hayden Lowman of Boone, NC, Ensley, Letty & Finley Parker of Toney, AL David Paul Lowman III of Seatle, WA., daughter-in-law Gretchen Lowman-Brace of Black Mountain, NC, and his sister of the heart Barbara Garrison of Huntsville, AL. His legacy of service, love, and dedication will forever be cherished by his family and friends.
Ronnie was preceded in death by his son Sean Calvin Lowman, his parents Homer & Carrie Tucker, and his five siblings.
A celebration to honor Ronnie’s life will be held at 4 pm on July 12, 2025, at Berryhill Funeral Home, 2305 Memorial Parkway NW, Huntsville, AL. Friends and Family will be received between 3-4 pm.
Military honors and burial to follow in Arlington National Cemetery at a future date.
