Paul Singleton, 92, Vina, Alabama, died Saturday, Jan. 24, 2015, at his home in Vina. He was born in Alabama to Enos and Merdie Humphres Singleton. He was a farmer for more than 50 years and worked at Blue Bell for 20 years. He was a member of Hurricane Creek Missionary Baptist Church.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II in the 56th Signal Battalion, and received a Bronze Star for his service.
Services will be Tuesday, Jan. 27, 11 a.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church with Brother Jerry Humpries, the Rev. David Smith and Brother W.D. Humphries officiating. Burial will be in Ebenezer Cemetery. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, Alabama, will be in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include six children, Mary Frances Fowler (Jimmy), of Corinth, Mississippi, Nancy Pauline Emerson (Steve) and Judy Faye Miller (James), all of Hamilton, Alabama, Roxann DeFoor (David), of Moulton, Alabama, Golda Mae Singleton, of Phil Campbell, Alabama, and Steven Lee Singleton, of Vina, Alabama; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 61 years, Reba Roxie Holland Singleton, son, David Paul Singleton, one sister, Verdie Holland, and two brothers, Alfred Singleton and Cecil Singleton.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Jimmer and Jonathan Fowler, Joshua and Jeffrey DeFoor, Jimmy and Colby Emerson and David Watts.
Visitation will be Monday, Jan. 26, 6-9 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, Alabama, and from 10-11 a.m Tuesday at Ebenezer Baptist Church.
