Funeral service for Martha Minter Templeton age 92 of Cullman, formerly of Hartselle will be Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at 2:00pm at First Baptist Church Hartselle with Rev. Allen Queen officiating with burial in the Hartselle City Cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until service time on Wednesday at the Church.
Mrs. Templeton, who died on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at the Folsom Center in Cullman, was born August 18, 1925 in Falkville, Alabama to Flaudy Rufus Minter and Lily Parker Minter. She was a member of First Baptist Church Hartselle most of her adult life and was a member and past treasurer of the Pilot Club in Decatur. She worked at Hartselle Hospital many years in Labor and Delivery and then worked as a nurse in Occupational Medicine at many industrial plants. She retired from full-time nursing at North Alabama Regional Hospital and then went to work in summer camps as a camp nurse at Camp World Song, a Baptist Girls camp operated by Baptist WMU at Cooks Springs, Alabama 1996- 2007, where she was known as “Mrs. Martha” to many young girls and camp staff. At First Baptist Hartselle, she taught Sunday School, GA’s and WMU through the years. She completed her nursing education at Mather School of Nursing of Southern Baptist Hospital- Tulane University in New Orleans, LA., in 1946 and worked as an RN in Louisiana, Tennessee and Alabama.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; Donald Leo Templeton, a son; Stephen F. Templeton, a brother; Elbert J, Minter, a grandson; Connor Brown Templeton, a brother-in-law; Wilder Barnes and a sister; Marie Minter Randall.
She is survived by 2 sons; Wesley A. Templeton (Linda) of Homewood and Gerald A. Templeton (Elaine) of Vestavia Hills, a daughter; JoAnne Templeton Oswalt (Johnnie Earl “Oz”) of Hartselle, 2 sisters; Reba Minter Barnes of Decatur and Jane Minter Padgett (Bill) of Hartselle, Daughter-in-law; Marque Anne Templeton of Hartselle, sister-in-law; Polly Minter of Decatur, a brother-in-law; Jack Randall of Birmingham. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Her grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers
