Marianne Rose Campbell, 66, of Huntsville, died Tuesday at Huntsville Hospital.
She was a retired contract specialist with Marshall Space Center/NASA, winning several awards. She previously was a nurse several years for Humana,
Marianne was a graduate of Arab High School and Athens State University. She changed careers in the middle of her life and went back to school. One of her strongest qualities was that she never gave up on anything she started.
She had a wide range of interests that included reading, traveling, oil painting and photography. She loved animals, especially her final two furry companions, Luke and Gus. She served several years as a volunteer with the Huntsville Humane Society.
Blessed with a gregarious personality (she never met a stranger), her friends and family were well aware of her wit and sense of humor. She loved to laugh and make others laugh.
Marianne was preceded in death by her parents, Marion and Ruth Culbreath Campbell.
Survivors are life partner Al Burleson; sister Madeline Artis (Marvin); brother Edwin Campbell (Annette); three nephews, Kenneth Artis (Holly), Kevin Artis, Matthew Gillard (Ashley) .
Visitation will be Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Brindlee Mountain Chapel, Morgan City. Memorial service will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Pine Ridge Baptist Church, with burial in adjoining cemetery.
