Margaret Cameron Driskill Margaret Cameron Driskill of Huntsville, Alabama passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 1, 2019. She was born to the late William Cameron Grove and Nan Laura Roberts on November 19, 1938, in Bluefield, West Virginia.

Margaret graduated from Lee Edwards High School in Asheville, North Carolina. She received a BS degree in social work from Alabama A&M University in Huntsville, Alabama.

Margaret is survived by her husband, Dr. Walter Vernon Caston; sisters, Helen Marie Ingle and Ann Josephine Stacey; children, Pamela D. Benson and Jack Benson, Timothy C. Driskill and Alicia Driskill and Laura D. Myers and Dr. Carl Wayne Myers; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and nine nephews and nieces. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Cornice Earl Driskill, and her brother Leo Mulvaney.

Margaret’s love and passion for the youngest among us led her to a career in social work, specializing in Child Protective Services. After retirement, she became a substitute teacher to remain close to the little ones she so dearly loved. Over the years, Margaret devoted her time to many organizations. In the early 70’s she was a director of Red Cross volunteers in Huntsville. She also served as the Regent of the Twickenham Town Chapter of the DAR in Huntsville. Margaret was a Eucharist minister at Good Shepherd Catholic Church where she practiced her faith as a devout Christian.

Margaret was a lover of genealogy and family heritage. She taught Genealogy at the University of Alabama in Huntsville and was a co-author of the book, Genealogy-How to Find Your Ancestors. Margaret often portrayed, in first person, Abigail Smith Adams for schools and civic groups, presenting the role of women during the American Revolutionary War.

She could often be found attending her grandchildren’s sporting events and school activities. Margaret loved playing board games and cards with her grandchildren.

Margaret was a devoted and loving woman to her family, friends and her faith. Her family was her life and her devotion and love for them was deeply present in her actions and words. She will be dearly missed. Even in our loss, her love and compassion remain with us now and forever.

A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 5 p.m. on Thursday, September 5, 2019 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 13550 Chaney Thompson Rd SE, Huntsville, AL 35803.
