Lydia Gregory Cross – Obituary

Lydia Gregory Cross, 60, passed from this life the morning of December 12th after a long battle of health issues. Lydia was born in Chattanooga, TN but resided her entire life in Pulaski. She graduated from Giles County High School in 1975.
Lydia was born to the late Sammuel Gregory and Carrie Willingham July 15, 1957. She married her high school sweetheart Jerome Cross, March 1, 1980. They have been best friends and life partners for over 45 years.
Lydia was teacher’s aide at Giles County High School for over 15 years working with students with developmental disabilities. She was funny, sassy, and always available to friends and family. She has been a long-time care giver for Michael and Shane who were very special to her heart.
Visitation will be on Saturday, December 16th from 1:00pm until 2:00pm at Bennett-May Giles County Funeral Home with a funeral following at 2:00pm in the chapel with Maina Mwaura officiating.
Burial will follow in the Kimbrough Cemetery
Lydia is survived by her husband, Jerome Cross of over 45 years. Two children, Tiffiney (Maina) Mwaura and her youngest granddaughter Zyan, Teneshia Cross (Tie Shavers) and her oldest granddaughter D’Maiya Cross. Her mother Carrie Willingham, two sisters, Kathey Reynolds and Bernitta (Shay) Gregory, half siblings, Bridgett Gregory, Yolanda, Gregory, Tara Gregory, Havis Gregory, and Samuel Gregory. Her great aunt Annie (Ed) Abernathy, very special friends, David Pipken, Karla Montgomery, and Zach (Kayla) Watkins. Host of nieces and nephews also survived.
