Kay Foster Bradburn was called home to be with her Lord and Savior in heaven on August 31, 2019. She was born on December 21, 1944 in Bremen, GA, and as an infant, after her father’s death during World War II, moved to Brevard, NC to be near her mother’s family.

Kay attended Brevard High School where she had many friends, including her future husband, Charles Clyde Bradburn (Charlie). After graduating from Brevard High School, she attended the University Of North Carolina, Greensboro, and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in English. After graduation, Charlie and Kay were married on July 16, 1966 in Brevard.

Charlie and Kay moved to Huntsville, AL, where he had gotten a job with the government as a Mechanical Engineer. Kay worked as a secretary until the birth of their first child, Kelly Susan Bradburn, in 1968. Charlie and Kay were blessed with the birth of their second child, Charles Clyde Bradburn, Jr. (Chuck) in 1973. Kay was a wise, loving, and selfless wife and mother, and an avid supporter of her husband and her children.

When her children were older, Kay returned to school, earning a Master’s Degree in English from UAH. She then embarked on a new career as a teacher. She loved teaching and is remembered fondly by many of her students.

Kay was predeceased by her parents, Kerry Foster and Gloria Foster (Wilson); stepparents, John Rhyne and Eileen Rhyne (Nelson); father- and mother-in-law, Joseph Hugh Bradburn Sr. and Hedwig Bradburn (Ceppa); and sister-in-law, Patricia Goodson (Bradburn).

Those left to treasure her memory include her husband of 53 years, Charles Clyde Bradburn, Sr.; stepsister, Betsy Bradley; daughter, Kelly Bradburn Jenks (Shane); son, Charles Clyde Bradburn Jr. (Suzanne); five grandchildren, Adam Douglas Jenks, Hannah Katherine Jenks, Roy Felix Bradburn, Bernadette Agnes Bradburn, and Cecilia Therese Bradburn. She is also survived by cousins, Sandra Wilson and Susan Case; two brothers-in-law, Joseph Hugh Bradburn, II (Angela) and Howard Edward Bradburn (Veda); and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

She will be greatly missed, but her family takes comfort in knowing that they will be reunited with her in heaven. A celebration of her life will take place on Saturday, September 7, 2019, with visitation at 9:30 AM and service at 11:00 AM at Grace Lutheran Church. Interment for the family will be at 2:30 at Maple Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Kay’s honor, to the Grace Lutheran Church and School Capital Investment Campaign.
