Jennie Tyree Morgan, age 102, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on November 7, 2025, at her home in Nashville, TN.
She was born on November 5, 1923, in Trenton, TN to Gussie Mae and Walter Drury Tyree. The fifth of eight children, she was raised in a family full of love, respect and faith. Her parents instilled a strong work ethic and emphasized the importance of a good education. After high school she continued her education with a business degree from West Tennessee Business College and loved working as a bookkeeper until her retirement.
On April 6, 1947, she married Charles Warren Morgan after he returned from WW II. Together they raised two children, Phil and Kathryn. In 1955 they made their home in Forrest City, AR where Jennie lived until 2016 when she moved to Nashville. In Forrest City they were members of The First Baptist Church where they worshipped and made lifelong friendships. They enjoyed entertaining and outings with family and friends.
In 1979 Jennie lost her husband whom she faithfully cared for during a long illness, making certain that he was always surrounded with compassionate care.
As a strong woman, Jennie continued to live and thrive independently. She had close friendships with other women and together they took trips, dined and played cards. Her sense of humor was dry and often unexpected. She loved listening to music and being with people that made her laugh. She also enjoyed cooking and entertaining, especially for family. Her favorite time of year was Christmas because of the music, the food, shopping for gifts and visiting with her cherished extended family.
Jennie was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Morgan, her parents, her brothers and sisters; Hardie Givens Tyree, Elizabeth Thomas, Lucille Arnold, Emily Williams, Drury Tyree, Katie Prince and William Tyree.
She is survived by her children, Kathryn Morgan (Nashville), Phil Morgan (Romy) (Memphis, TN) grandchildren, Kendall Morgan (Memphis) and Joe and Weston Dacus (Little Rock, AR) as well as several beloved nieces and nephews.
Jennie will be remembered as fun-loving yet strong, independent and determined. She loved her family fiercely and unconditionally and will be missed.
If you’d like to honor her memory with a donation, St Jude Children’s Hospital was always dear to her, or please donate to the charity of your choice.
A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on November 22, at Oakland Cemetery in Trenton, TN.
