Francis Mobley Ladd, a longtime resident of Huntsville, Alabama, died Saturday, July 8, 2017 at Huntsville Hospital.
Born in 1938 in Gulfport, Mississippi, Francis graduated from Gulfport High School in 1956. Francis received a Bachelor of Arts from Mississippi State College for Women in 1960. She continued her education at Alabama A&M University in 1979. Upon graduation from college, she taught junior high school science in Pensacola, Florida, then worked as a social worker in Memphis, Tennessee, and Huntsville, Alabama. Francis worked as the school librarian at Rolling Hills Elementary School and J.O. Johnson High School in Huntsville, Alabama.
Francis was a member of Lakewood United Methodist Church in Huntsville for 52 years. She had a passion for serving, God and people in need. She had an appreciation for traveling, museums, art and reading books. She will be remembered for her sense of humor, her service to others and her love for family and friends.
Francis is survived by her husband of 55 years, Douglas Ladd; daughter Wendy Ladd Johnson and husband Charles Johnson; son Gary Ladd and wife Nancy Ladd; and grandchildren Olivia Ladd, Charlie Ladd and Hayden Johnson.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Leukemia Society or the United Methodist Women’s Group at Lakewood United Methodist Church. Arrangements will be announced by Berryhill Funeral Home.
