Charles Stephen “Steve” Newell, 66, of Scotts Hill, Tennessee, passed away on March 21, 2026 in Lexington. He was born on May 21, 1959, in Lexington, Virginia, to the late Bobby Neal Newell and Mary Lou Spencer Newell.
Charles was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was a faithful member of Cedar Grove Pentecostal Church, where he found great strength in his faith and community. Charles worked many years as a crane operator, a profession that reflected his strong work ethic and dedication to providing for his family.
He will be remembered for his steadfast love, quiet strength, and the deep care he had for those around him.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Marty Lancaster Newell; two sons, Nathaniel Newell and Nicholas Newell (Taylor); two brothers, Jerry Newell and Kenny Newell; one sister, Vickie Brewer; and two cherished grandchildren, Willow and Sylas Newell.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1 PM, Wednesday, March 25, 2026 in the chapel of Pafford Funeral Home in Scotts Hill. Interment will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Decatur County. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, 5 – 8 PM and on Wednesday, 12 – 1 PM at Pafford Funeral Home in Scotts Hill.
