FLORENCE-The City of Florence has been awarded $400,100 in Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) funding to support critical services for individuals and families experiencing homelessness and domestic violence across Florence and the Shoals region.
The funding, administered through the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA), will support emergency shelter, rapid rehousing, homelessness prevention, and services for victims of domestic violence. These services will be delivered through the City of Florence’s second-tier subrecipients, including SafePlace, Community Action Agency of Northwest Alabama, Salvation Army of the Shoals, and MOM’s Inc.
Mayor Ron Tyler praised the collaborative effort behind the award and emphasized the impact it will have on the community. “This funding represents a meaningful investment in the safety, stability, and well-being of our neighbors,” Mayor Tyler said. “We are grateful to the Alabama Legislature, Governor Kay Ivey, and ADECA for their continued support, and we deeply appreciate our nonprofit partners who work every day to provide hope and assistance to those in need.”
“I want to thank our Planning and Community Development team for their diligence and leadership in securing this funding,” Mayor Tyler added. “Receiving the largest award in this year’s Emergency Solutions Grant cycle, which is $50,000 more than last year, reflects the strength of our application and ensures Florence remains proactive in addressing critical housing and human service needs throughout our region.”
The Emergency Solutions Grant program is designed to assist individuals and families in moving toward stable housing while strengthening community-based solutions to homelessness and housing insecurity.
