Bobby Gene BrothersBobby Gene Brothers, 85, of Decatur, Alabama passed away surrounded by his loved ones on Thursday, October 23, 2025 at his home. A Funeral service will be held Saturday, October 25, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with Merv Waugh officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service in the Chapel. Burial will be on Sunday, October 26, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Nashville, Tennessee.

Bobby was born on July 18, 1940, in Beech Grove, Tennessee to Albert Carl and Maude Loreen Brothers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Carl and Maude Loreen Brothers; his brothers, Carl Edward Brothers and William Boyd Brothers; his daughter, Melody Ruth Segars; and his nephew, Jerry Brothers.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth Claudette Brothers; his sister Carolyn Ann Bryson; his daughters Fairy June Brothers, Valerie Evonne Brothers, Kandie Jean Johnston (Phillip), and Vickie Brothers Demers (Scott); his grandchildren Ashley Ruth Hicks (Jason), Jason Isaiah Segars (Melody), Symphony Paulette Keeton (Madison), Nikolas Albert Brothers (Chelsea), Sydney Victoria Demers, Caroline Grace Demers, and Emily Ruth Brothers; great-granddaughter Josie Rae Hicks; and other extended family.

After graduating from Middle Tennessee State University in 1962, Bobby served in the United States Army until 1964. He worked as an aerospace engineer for National Aeronautics and Space Administration for 43 years. While at NASA, he designed solid rocket boosters for the Space Shuttles, helped design the Constellation Project, research the Mission to Mars, and more.

Bobby dedicated his life in service of his family and faith. He was a loving husband to his wife Ruth Claudette Brothers for sixty-three years. He was a devoted father to his five daughters, with whom he loved to fish, play games, go to church, and vacation in the Smoky Mountains. He served the Lord as a Sunday School teacher in Decatur, Alabama and a missionary in the Philippines, China, Venezuela, and Israel.
