Betty Joanne White passed away peacefully on Monday May 19, 2025 at the age of 93 in Madison, AL. Betty was born on August 5, 1931 in Santa Ana, CA to the late Ralph and Mina McIntyre Bolte and was preceded in death by both of her parents; her two brothers, Theodore and James Bolte; and her beloved husband of 55 years, Chuck (Charles E. White).

Betty is survived by her sons, Charles M. White Sr., Kevin E. White Sr. (Maureen) and Sean White (Teresa); her daughters; Charlotte Carlisle, Sharon Lovell (Dan) and Theresa Sethe (Ron); 19 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

Betty taught Kindergarten in southern California, before meeting her husband, Chuck, and beginning life as a Naval officer’s wife. Their various duty stations took them cross country several times, including Florida, Maryland, Washington, Hawaii and eventually to Guam. She stayed busy in the schools attended by their six children, often working in the school office and enjoyed being involved as much as possible.

Betty and Chuck ultimately retired to her beloved southern California, before eventually moving back to Pensacola, FL where her husband later passed away. As long as she was able, Betty enjoyed participating as a volunteer for whichever parish they attended and upon moving to Madison, AL, became a volunteer with the Catholic Center of Concern as well as a Religious Education teacher at Most Merciful Jesus Catholic Parish. She was a member of the card writing ministry at Most Merciful Jesus as well and took great comfort in her faith.

A rosary will be offered on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at Most Merciful Jesus Catholic Parish (10509 Segers Rd. Madison, AL 35756) at 10:00 am followed by a funeral mass at 10:30 am. There will be a luncheon immediately following. Her family will then fulfill her final wishes to be buried at sea with her late husband Chuck off the coast of Pensacola, FL later in the week.

Per her wishes, if you are able to attend the funeral rosary and mass, it is asked that you wear her favorite color (blue) or some other bright color or Hawaiian shirt as a way to celebrate her love of life and the beach.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Catholic Center of Concern (1010 Church St. NW Huntsville, AL 35801) or Most Merciful Jesus Catholic Church – Capital Campaign (10509 Segers Rd. Madison, AL 35756).
