John T. Hughes, age 84, of Bridgeport, Alabama, passed away on May 12, 2025. He was born on February 9, 1941. John was a graduate of Bridgeport High School and attended Auburn University. He then worked many years for Williams Brothers Oil Company before opening a furniture store in Bridgeport. John loved life and his family. He cherished family trips to the Great Smoky Mountains especially when also accompanied by his grandchildren in more recent years. John was a member of Bridgeport Church of Christ. He loved his church family very much attending Sunday services with eagerness and a thirst for fellowship.
John is survived by his Wife, Janice W. Hughes of 62 years, Daughter, Suzanne H. Mills (David), Granddaughter, Melody C. Mills, Grandson, Stephen F. Mills, Brother, R. Terry Hughes (Anna Jane), Sisters, Martha H. Pendley and Judy H. Solomon, and numerous nieces and nephews. John is preceded by his parents Leon J. Hughes and Fannie Mae Hughes and daughter, Melody J. Hughes.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 from 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM at Rudder Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow beginning at 4:00 PM in the Rudder Funeral Home Chapel –Stevenson with Danny Rader officiating. Interment will be private.
