Mary Jean Ford was born on May 27, 1939 to the late Maggie Baker Thomas and late James Mitchell in Huntsville, Alabama. She departed her life on February 13, 2024.
Proceeded in her death was her husband Lacey Mitchell Ford, Sr., a daughter Brenda Faye Ford and a son Lacey Mitchell Ford Jr.
She joined Apostolic True Temple Church of God in 1975 and was a member of the Mothers Board and remained a faithful member until her death.
Mary Jean Mitchell married the late Lacey Mitchell Ford Sr and to this union six children were born. She worked as a Domestic Custodian for many years until her retirement. She was a very dedicated and professional worker whom took pride in her work duties. Mary was a woman of God with a heart pure of gold. She encompassed compassion and kindness with a soul full of humane graciousness and thoughtfulness for anyone that encountered her presence. Mary’s home was always a welcoming environment that was full of Love for her family that needed a roof over their head and a bed to rest their body. Mary’s children and grandchildren was the center of her heart. She was a woman of true faith and righteousness at all times. Anytime you met Mary you were greeted with a loving hug and a giving heart. She enjoyed cooking big meals and celebrating every holiday and special occasions with her family. Mary had a spirit of quietness and calmness with a subtleness sense of humor. She was a WOMAN of great admiration and the true definition of a WOMAN whom loved the Lord.
She leaves a legacy of memories to be cherished by: two daughters, Delores Ford and Elizabeth Cole (Jeffery) of Huntsville, AL, two sons, Bobby (Sue) Ford, Clementon, NJ, Ricky (Deana) Ford of Harvest, AL, 14 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren. Sister-in-laws, Peggy Parker, Lula Ford, June Acklin, Huntsville, AL, Paulette (Donzell) Collier, Chicago, IL, Mary (Robert) Coleman, Phoenix, AZ, brother-in-law, Jerry (Willie Mae) Ford of Huntsville, AL, Host of nieces and nephews.
A special Thanks to Hospice of Huntsville and Servant Home Care whom showed the upmost compassion and caring touch and professional medical skills in helping her and the family throughout her illness.
The funeral service for Mrs. Mary Jean Ford will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 24, 2024, at the Apostolic True Temple Church of God in Christ (3000 Stringfield Rd NW, Huntsville, AL 35810) with Bishop Jerry Townsend officiating. Interment will be in the Valhalla Memory Gardens. Mrs. Ford will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral time.
Public viewing will be held from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Friday, February 23, 2024, and 8:30 until 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 24, 2024, at the Royal Funeral Home.
