Betty Sue Walden Alsobrook, a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2026. She was born on May 22, 1931, in Tuscumbia, Alabama, to George and Julia Walden.

Sue’s life was a testament to love, dedication, and service. She graduated from Deshler High School in 1949 and went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Home Economics from the University of North Alabama. Her passion for nurturing others led her to a career in teaching, where she touched the lives of many students before devoting herself entirely to her family.

On December 17, 1955, Sue married the love of her life, Payne Alsobrook. Together, they built a beautiful life, sharing 60 years of marriage filled with joy, support, and unwavering commitment.

Sue found immense joy in her family, especially in her role as a mother and grandmother. Her grandchildren were one of her greatest joys, and she poured her heart into being an ever-present and devoted grandmother. She is survived by her daughter, Leah (Will) Caraway, and her treasured grandchildren, Bryan (Bonnie) Hill, Stephen (Emily) Hill, and Ashley (Eric) Wittig.

Her faith and service to her community were cornerstones of her life. Sue was an active and dedicated member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where she served on the altar guild. She also took great pleasure in delivering meals with Payne through the Meals on Wheels program.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Julia Walden, her brother, Eliis Walden, and her beloved husband, Payne Alsobrook.

A graveside service celebrating Sue’s life will be held on October 17, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Oakwood Cemetery in Tuscumbia, Alabama with the Rev. Mac Buttram officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Meals on Wheels, St. Jude’s Children Hospital, or the American Heart Association, honoring Sue’s passion for helping others.

Betty Sue Walden Alsobrook’s legacy of love and service will forever be remembered and cherished by all who were fortunate to know her.
