Friends are invited to gather for a viewing along with the family from 12:00am – 1:00pm. He was a native of Cordova and remained there for most of his life and was a Blue Devil through and through. He graduated from Cordova High where he enjoyed playing football and continued to attend football games regularly. He left his small town to serve in the Navy which brought him great pride. He loved saying “this little Cordova boy got to see the world by ship”. After he left the Navy, he moved to Georgia and worked at Lockheed Martin building aircraft carriers. He returned back home and worked in the coal mines as an electrician for many years until he retired.
He was an avid Alabama fan and rooted for the crimson tide. He enjoyed the game of football and was active in coaching little league throughout his life. His deepest love was for the water both the river and the lake. He enjoyed all aspects of the lake including swimming, fishing, boating, skiing and just gazing at its beauty.
When it came to kids, he was the pied piper!! He loved kids, because he was one himself. If you were around Shell, you were having fun. He loved hanging out with his little buddy Carter and would often be found babysitting Nola Rose and Cam. He had the unique ability to cultivate lots of friendships and he was a loyal friend to them. He maintained close, loving relationships with all of his siblings, especially his Irish twin Doyle, and served his family members well until they had passed.
Shelton, our lives have been truly blessed by having you in them. You are loved and will be missed!
