Studio B at FAME is a historic music landmark that has served as a launchpad for many acclaimed careers and award-winning and record-sales-breaking songs. With a reverence for the rich culture created in the room, and an eye toward relevance and contemporary production values, FAME’s Rodney Hall and award-winning producer/engineer Glenn Rosenstein, have created a home for both the classic and new sounds that define Muscle Shoals. Two legendary and refurbished consoles, mated in one acoustically compelling control room, offer producers, engineers, mixers and musicians an unparalleled world-class recording experience.

Rosenstein brings a wealth of experience, having worked with Ziggy Marley, Madonna, Talking Heads, The Ramones, U2 and many others. As a producer, mixer and engineer, Rosenstein’s projects have won three Grammy Awards, garnered five Grammy nominations, and have won both an Oscar and a Golden Globe Award. His work is responsible for record sales in excess of 300 million units.

“This is an incredibly exciting time for FAME and the continuing evolution of FAME’s legacy in the music scene,” said Rodney Hall, FAME President and son of legendary FAME recording studio owner and producer Rick Hall. “FAME Studios has a long and storied history of inspiring and bringing out the best of the artists who recorded here. Its energy and mystique continue to draw musicians in today, and with the changes to Studio B we’re ensuring that the FAME magic and mystique will be in demand long into the future.”

Studio B has been completely renovated to update the control room, including installing a legendary SSL 6056E console and adding multiple innovative technology upgrades for audio recording. The console, purchased from Dallas Sound Labs, was Stevie Ray Vaughn’s favorite, used to record his three solo albums as well as the Vaughn Brothers project. Other artists to record on the SSL include Destiny’s Child, Leon Russell, ZZ Top, Phil Collins, Steve Perry, Erykah Badu, The Fugees as well as portions of the soundtracks from “Titanic”, “The Mighty Ducks”, “Robocop”, and “Miami Vice”.

“To partner in arguably one of the world’s most historically significant recording rooms is both inspiring and a true privilege,” said Rosenstein. “It is Rodney’s and my intention to create a dynamic facility with a reverent eye to FAME’s pioneering accomplishments.”
