George Dashwood Tarbox, Jr., age 75, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2018 at the Cottage of the Shoals after suffering a stroke in July.
He was born June 5, 1943 in Bronxville, New York living in Niagara Falls, New York until 1954. He lived in Florence from 1954 until 1960, going to Gilbert Elementary, Florence Junior High and Coffee High School. He graduated in 1961 from Sault Ste. Marie High in Michigan. He went to college for two years in Houghton, Michigan before joining the U.S. Navy in 1963 and serving seven years in the submarine Corp, stationed in Groton, Connecticut. After his Navy discharge, he lived and worked in and around Clinton, Connecticut.
In 1979 he and his brother, Roger, bought a house in Sheffield. They both got jobs with TVA at Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant. He transferred to Watts Bar Nuclear Plant in Tennessee and worked as a security guard. Due to declining health, he moved back to Sheffield and lived with his brother.
In his younger days he loved going near water and owned many water crafts. He was an avid tennis and golf player for many years.
George was always a central part of family at get togethers such as Thanksgiving, Christmas, yearly snow skiing, and summer beach vacations. He loved the family reunions with cousins from all around the states.
He will be sorely missed by his family, host of cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Dashwood and Evelyn Pederson Tarbox.
George is survived by his brothers, Peter in Los Angeles and Roger in Sheffield; sisters, Dottie Patterson in Madison and Laura Gross in Norwalk, Connecticut.

There will not be a funeral service, but a celebration of life at a later date with family and relatives.
