Donald David Patton, 83 of Double Springs, entered into rest on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at Hendrix Health and Rehabilitation in Double Springs.

Mr. Patton was born on May 9, 1933 in Double Springs, Alabama. He was a graduate of the 1953 class of Winston County High School and was a member of the Winston County Sports Hall of Fame for football. He was a member of Union Grove Freewill Baptist Church for 41 years. He enjoyed “piddlin” around the yard.

The family will receive friends on Friday, February 10, 2017 from 5-7pm at Nichols Funeral Home in Double Springs, where a memorial service will follow at 7pm. Brother Bill Frank Wilson and Brother Mickey Millican will officiate.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Joyce Vines Patton; sons, David M. Patton and his wife Sandra, Richard Patton and his wife Laura, and Gary Stanley; daughters, Patricia Sides, Sharon Sodders, and Charlotte Adair and her husband Randy; he was “Paw Paw” to 14 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Lloyd and Velma Mae Patton; and sister, Evelyn Hill.
