Julia Ann Taylor Pacheco, 79, of Baileyton, Alabama, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2026, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. Julia was born on April 20, 1947, in Alabama to James Edward Taylor and Mattie Jo Cranford Taylor. She was a graduate of Arab High School and later attended the University of North Alabama. Throughout her life, she was known for her generosity, leadership, adventurous spirit, and devotion to her family and community.
Julia was a dedicated member of Lions Club International and held numerous leadership positions, including serving as a District Governor. Through her service with the Alabama Lions Vision Mission, she traveled extensively and participated in humanitarian efforts in Mexico and beyond. She was an active member of the Holly Pond Lions Club.
In addition to her civic service, Julia was a Notary Public in the State of Florida, a Master Gardener, and served as Registrar in Houston County, Alabama. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she was a member of Baileyton Methodist Church. Above all, Julia treasured her family. She found her greatest joy in being a mother, grandmother, and friend. Her warmth, strength, wisdom, and compassion touched everyone who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and resilience that will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends.
Julia is survived by her sons, Edward Oscar Richter; Lawrence Pacheco (Vincent Songcayawon); Augustin Pacheco (Jody Michelle); Donovan John Pacheco; and Manny Fernando Pacheco; daughter, Marina Anne Richter Hodge (Robert Edwin Hodge III); grandchildren, Natalie Marie Hodge South (Brendan South), Robert Edwin Hodge IV, Kelley Ann Richter, Monroe Ree Pacheco, Theron Grace Pacheco, Augustin Fernando Pacheco, Wayne Robert Pacheco, and Anthony Michael Pacheco; as well as numerous extended family members and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Edward Taylor and Mattie Jo Cranford Taylor; her beloved husband, Augustin Manuel “Gus” Pacheco; and her brother, Phillip R. Taylor.
Julia will be remembered for her compassionate heart, her dedication to helping others, her love of gardening, her commitment to community service, her love for animals, and the love she shared with her family and friends. Though she will be greatly missed, her memory will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Graveside service celebrating Julia’s life will be held at Gilliam Springs Baptist Church in Arab, Alabama, on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.
The family finds comfort in knowing that she is now at peace and reunited with those who went before her.
